Sonic Unleashed Chapter 16

Sonic was running through the long hallway, jumping and dodging spikes, fire flames, and snake pits.
He was carrying Anaid in his arms while Remedy gracefully hovered above them.
“Does this happen to everybody that comes through the front door?!” cried Sonic.
“Yes, but usually, it’s a lot worse than this.” answered Remedy. “It seems that most of the traps have already been triggered.
“Maybe she forgot to set them back up.” guessed Anaid.
“No, they set back up all on their own.”
“Someone must have come through here, not too long ago then.” Said Sonic.

“Look out!”
A large boulder, aiming to pulverizing them, was soon chasing the three.
“Sonic! I told you not to step on any of the red tiles!” shouted Remedy.
“Well, did you have to tell me AFTER I stepped on it?!”
“Sonic! There’s a dead end!!” cried Anaid.
“WHAT?!”
He looked out in front of them and saw a large, deep trench between them and the other side.
Sonic chuckled. “Don’t worry, I do this kind of stuff all the time.”
Without stopping, Sonic ran straight for the trench and jumped.
Anaid held onto him tight, not wanting to look down.

Sonic landed, while the boulder plundered into the darkness below.
“How many times in my life has that happened in that way exactly every time…?” wondered Sonic. “Anaid, you can open you’re eyes now.”
Anaid opened her eyes and looked around, then sighed in relief.
Sonic put her down and he collapsed onto the floor, tired from having to evade all of those traps.
“I never…thought that I would be this tired after just running.” He sighed while trying to catch his breath.
“Well, done, Sonic.” Said Remedy. “You have passed all the traps. I’m surprised you only triggered 1/3 of all the traps though.”
“There were MORE???”
“Yes.”
Sonic brought his head to the ground and groaned.

“My sister is just beyond this door, quickly.”
Remedy opened the door and let Sonic go through first.
“Huh? What in the world is going on here?” he asked.
Sonic saw two people already fighting in the room. One was a red-haired girl and the other was a purple lizard mage. Both of them had swords and were getting ready to strike each other again.
”It… It’s that lizard thing again!” cried Anaid.
“What’s that piece of slime doing here?!” questioned Sonic.
The girl swung first and the lizard mage dodged it swiftly.
“Quit running away, you coward!!” she screamed angrily.
The mage landed on his two feet and laughed.
“Ooh, what a temper you have.” He said. “It doesn’t surprise me at all that master Nightmare entitles you as the foolish one.”
“FOOLISH!?!?”
She rapidly swung her flaming sword at him in furry.
“It is YOU that is ever so foolish, you freaking bastard!!”
But none of her attacks hit him. He just kept moving out of the way.

“Not only does she have a temper, she has quite a vulgar mouth too.” moaned Sonic, who was a little freaked- out from her behavior.
“It’s good to know that Intensity hasn’t changed a bit.” sighed Remedy.
“Well, somebody’s got to help her.” Said Sonic who was already jumping down into the battle.

Sonic leaped up into the air and came down on the mage.
Intensity stopped in confusion.
There, Sonic stood, on top of the mage’s head.
“This is what you get for shooting in the back a couple days ago.” He said to him.
Intensity straightened herself up and just stared at her newly- found friend.
“Who the hell are you?” she asked him crudely.
“Woah, hey. That’s no way to greet a chosen one.” assumed Sonic, who was suddenly inside his arrogant behavior.
Intensity scoffed.
“Hmph, ‘chosen one’? You?”
“Ya, me. And further more, I- Woah!!”
The mage kicked Sonic off of him and Sonic fell to the ground, bottom- first.
“Oh, up for more, are you?” Intensity asked, whose attention was drawn away from Sonic.
But the mage ignored her and turned to see Sonic, on the ground.
“YOU AGAIN?!” he hollered.
Sonic stood up.
“YOU AGAIN?!” mocked Sonic cheerfully. “Look at me! I can say it too!”

The mage swung his sword at him, but Sonic dodged by jumping into the air and coming down behind him.
Sonic then kicked him in the back. Surprisingly, that single kick sent the mage flying. He hit the wall and tried to get up.
“Urgh!!” the mage bellowed. “So…strong…”
“Did…did I just do that?” thought Sonic.
Sonic forgot about it and walked up to the mage.
“Now that you can’t possibly go anywhere at the moment, who are you?” Sonic asked him.
“I…am Sanji, leader of the Magic Death gang…” he managed to say.
“Ok, Sanji, why were you coming after Anaid and I that one night?” Sonic asked once more.
Sanji just grinned painfully and vanished like any evil mage would.
“Hmph, coward..” mumbled Intensity.
Sonic turned to look at her.
“You. Just who are you?” she asked him.
“Guess I haven’t introduced myself like I wanted to. My name is Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.”
“Sonic? Ok Sonic, why are you here?”
“Just look up there.” Answered Sonic, pointing at Anaid and Remedy.
Intensity gasped when she saw Remedy.

“I spy with my little eye…” she started.
Remedy came down to see her. “…someone who’s going to get…” she continued.
They both came up, eye- to- eye.
Remedy slapped her across the cheek.
“…a good scolding! Why haven’t you contacted us?! You’re the only one out of all of us that I haven’t heard from yet!” she shouted.
“Calm down, Remedy. You sound like our mother.” Said Intensity.
“Well, I’m the responsible one in out remaining family.”
“At least I’m the strong one!”
“Uh…guys?” asked Sonic, who was freaked- out again.
They both looked down at him.
“…I’m getting a nauseous feeling…”
“Huh? What do you mean, Sonic?” asked Remedy.

Sonic keeled down, gripping his head.
“Oh…I see…” said Remedy.
“What’s wrong with him?” asked Intensity.
Remedy pointed up to the ceiling.
Sonic looked up as well and saw a clean, glass window, letting the moonlight shine in…MOONLIGHT!?
“Aw! WHY is there a window in this dojo?!” he cried.
“Hey! That was a very expensive window and…!” Intensity then noticed that there was something REALLY wrong with Sonic. His fur was turning gray.
Remedy backed up next to Intensity, who was shocked.
“…R…Remedy?”
Sonic had begun to transform.
His fur became gray and bushy as his gloves ripped off his growing hands.
Intensity’s eyes grew wider.
“What…the HELL is going on?!” she cried.
Sonic finished his transformation as he jerked his head up and howled.
“HOOOOWWWWWLLLLLLLL!!!!”

Sonic exhaled and lowered his head.
Remedy came and kneeled down next to him.
“At least there was a little warning this time, and it doesn’t hurt much anymore, for your body has become adapted to it.” She said to him.
“A…warning?” Sonic asked.
Remedy nodded as she helped him stand up.
“Feeling nauseous is only one of the first signs, the very first signs would be sudden overconfidence, a burst of strength, and then the feeling of uneasiness.”
“Huh…only you would know because you’re a doctor.”
“Retired.” Reminded Remedy.
“Remedy…uh…I’m still confused. What’s going on? Wasn’t this guy blue a minute ago?” asked Intensity.
“Oh…I’m sorry. Sonic, you see, has a curse. At night, he becomes something that he’s not.”
“Like that one Werewolf movie!!” cried Anaid, who was still at the top.
“Exactly, Anaid.” Said Remedy.
“Um…Can I come down now, mommy?”
“Oh! Of course! I’m so sorry.”
“Here, I’ll help her.” Said Sonic.

Sonic stretched out his arm and reached up to Anaid.
First, Anaid didn’t know what to do, and then she figured that she could sit on his arm as he brought her back down.
It worked.
Once she was on the ground, she hugged her big hero.
“I want to enjoy your cuteness right now…” she sighed.
“…Cuteness…?” both Remedy and Intensity asked.
“It’s… a long story…” sighed Sonic, who was turning red from embarrassment.

“Intensity, we need to talk…” said Remedy.
“What about…?”
Remedy paused and looked at Sonic and Anaid.
“Sonic, can you take Aniad back outside please?”
“What about all the traps?” he asked.
Remedy gave a faint smile.
“Don’t worry, maybe now, you won’t hit as many traps.”
“…maybe…”
Sonic scooped up Anaid and left.

Remedy looked back at Intensity with a worried look on her face.
“Intensity…it’s…it’s Nightmare…he’s returned…”
Intensity didn’t say a thing. How could she? She could not respond.
“But…but…how?” was all she could ask.
Our favorite trio returns as they search for the 3rd Chaos Guardian, Intensity.
